Gray Hairstreak (Strymon melinus) Often underappreciated because they're so abundant, but stunning when seen up close.

One of our commonest and most widespread hairstreaks. Note the distinctive orangish color on top of the head, which isn't found on Satyrium hairstreaks or other "interesting" species. Carroll Co., VA 8/8/02.
