Dusky Roadside-Skipper (Amblyscirtes alternata)

Dusky Roadside-Skipper (Amblyscirtes alternata)

This tiny butterfly is one of our least common roadside- skippers. They normally aren't good about holding still and posing for pictures, so I was very happy to be able to get this shot!

Holly Shelter Game Land, Pender Co., NC 4/23/06.

Dusky Roadside-Skipper (Amblyscirtes alternata)

Similar to Common Roadside-Skipper, but with a narrower white wedge on the top of the forewing.

Holly Shelter Game Land, Pender Co., NC 9/3/03.

Antennal club detail. Duskies are supposed to have less hooked clubs than other roadside-skippers. Same individual as top photo.
