Pepper and Salt Skipper (Amblyscirtes hegon)

Pepper and Salt Skipper (Amblyscirtes hegon)

One of the more common and widespread of the tiny roadside-skippers in North Carolina. The color and texture is similar to that of the horse manure this individual is enjoying. Oddly, while there are two broods of Pepper and Salt in the Mountains (spring and summer), in the eastern Piedmont there's only one brood in the spring.
