Red-headed Pine Sawfly (Neodiprion lecontei)

(Diprionidae - Conifer Sawflies)

Despite their similarity to moth caterpillars, these are actually larvae of sawflies, which are a group in the order Hymenoptera, related to ants, bees, and wasps.
