Fairly rare in North Carolina, Enemion is found in rich bottomlands growing in soil over mafic rocks. It tends to grow in large clonal colonies. This colony on a levee next to the Eno River at Willie Duke's Bluff looks bigger than it is, and there are no other patches of the species in the vicinity.
