Lyre-leaved Sage (Salvia lyrata)

Lyre-leaved Sage is common in North Carolina, one of only a few native wildflowers that thrives in lawns. The flowers are pale lavender in color.

The leaves are lyre-shaped (if you use your imagination) and often have reddish color near the veins. An alternate spelling of the name is "Lyreleaf Sage".
