Plantae>Magnoliophyta>Magnoliopsida>Rhamnales>Vitaceae>Ampelopsis brevipedunculata (Maximowicz) Trautvetter
Also known as Amur Peppervine, Porcelainberry is an invasive deciduous vine native to Japan and China.
Madison Co., NC 7/29/2012.
Porcelainberry flowers and begins to ripen fruit in late summer.
The grape-like fruits turn from green to lavender and blue as they ripen.
Chapel Hill, NC 9/30/05.
The fruits are quite ornamental, but Porcelainberry does not make a good garden plant since it aggressively spreads from cultivation.
