Seaside Oxeye (Borrichia frutescens) habit

Seaside Oxeye is a very common shrub of the edges of saltmarshes and brackish marshes along the coast of North Carolina.

This one is growing at the edge of a sand dune on Shackleford Banks.

Seaside Oxeye (Borrichia frutescens)

Forming extensive stands, it is easy to identify because of its fleshy, entire, gray-green leaves and large yellow composite flowers. The flowers are often used as a nectar source by the Salt Marsh Skipper.
