Silverleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea radiata)

Plantae>Magnoliophyta>Magnoliopsida>Rosales>Hydrangeaceae>Hydrangea radiata Walter

Silverleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea radiata)

This small to medium-sized shrub is found in only a limited range in the southern Appalachians, but is common where it grows. In North Carolina, it's native only to the southwestern Mountains.

Macon Co., NC 5/14/06.

Silverleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea radiata) Somewhat similar to the more widespread Hydrangea arborescens and H. cinerea, but can be identified from a great distance because of its silvery leaf undersides, which are so densely white-hairy that you can't see the green surface of the leaf.

Macon Co., NC 5/14/06.
