Bristly Dewberry, Swamp Dewberry (Rubus hispidus)

This trailing wetland shrub occurs in all regions of North Carolina, but is most common in the Mountains and northeastern Coastal Plain and nearly absent from the Piedmont.

The white flowers are arranged in racemes. Those of the similar R. trivialis are usually solitary.
