Wineberry (Rubus phoenicolasius)

Wineberry is a thicket-forming, invasive exotic roadside shrub, introduced from eastern Asia. Common in the Mountains, Wineberry also occurs in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Also known as Wine Raspberry, this plant is easy to identify by its rounded leaflets and bristly stems with red, glant-tipped hairs. This plant is flowering.
